Carlos da Silva
Mr. Carlos da Silva has more than 30 years’ experience in international agribusiness development in Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America. Da Silva’s range of expertise encompasses development policies and strategies, formulation and evaluation of agricultural investment projects, smallholder-based supply chain management, and etc. Carlos da Silva worked extensively on improvement of farmer-market linkages, development and implementation of contract farming schemes, and empowerment of small farmers. He worked intensively both with governments of developing countries, as well as farmers, and farmers’ organizations.
Carlos da Silva is an author and a co-author of a number of scientific articles and books on small-scale farming, contract farming, innovations, development policies, value-chain management, financing, agro industrial development, and etc.
Mr. Da Silva acquired the Degree of Bachelor in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1976. He holds the degrees of M.Sc. and PhD from the Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan.
Carlos da Silva is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. He has working knowledge of French and Italian, also basic knowledge of German.
